Location: Gresham, OR
Drive and deliver product to customers in a safe, productive, efficient, accurate and timely manner--following established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all internal and external customers and co-workers receive outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining the highest standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of a ‘Customer is Number 1’ environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to respond to clients and customers. Requires the ability to work independently, use own initiative and make decisions. Good time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ask for orders and promote promotional sales items.
  • The Route Sales position will be focused on increasing market share within the accounts he or she is responsible for calling on. - increasing sales for safety products - increasing sales for filler metals - increase gas sales for industrial, medical,specialty and cryogenic gases - increase sales for weld consumables
  • Responsible for increasing gross margin percent or profits within the accounts he or she is responsible for calling on.
  • Understand and train customers on weld processes and procedures to help them improve their operations.
  • Eligible for all commissions paid for signing or re-signing product supply agreements with new or existing customers.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicle. Verify load has accurate cylinders and hard goods. Check that all cylinders have proper shipping labels.
  • Fill out truck manifest prior to leaving store. Make sure truck has first aid kit, triangles, accident kit, haz-mat guide, etc. Check straps, replace bad ones, make sure cylinder transactions on invoices are correct. Get signatures on all invoices.
  • Fill out daily trip records including log book and duty sheets.
  • Inform supervisor of all moving violations (personal and work-related). Follow all requirements on reporting accidents.
  • Report any repairs on vehicles as needed to supervisor.
  • Report any outside activity by competitors at customer.
  • Use cylinder cart when possible.
  • Report unsafe delivery to dispatch.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Ensure service is performed on vehicle as required.
  • Work in the branch store as time allows or required.
  • Commit to high performance through outstanding attendance and overall dependable work habits.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus at least 1 year delivery experience.
  • Class “B” Commercial Drivers’ License with Haz-Mat endorsement.
  • Minimum 1 year previous experience in route sales plus 1 year customer service background.
  • Excellent communication skills to respond to clients and customers.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and use own initiative.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. An employee in this position is regularly required to see (near and far vision), use hands and fingers and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, balance and twist; occasionally bend, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, smell/taste. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds (with help or proper lifting devise). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
